Breaks my heart when people do it. I've heard their thinking is...better to be set free then go to a shelter and be put down. Yeah, that sounds nice in theory but we all know the poor dog won't make it too long out there for various reasons - cars , other predators etc, can't get food etc. I hope anyone thinking about doing that please see these posts! Take him/her to a rescue or no-kill shelter. Give them a chance at finding a new home! Wish I could slap them upside their heads!!
Same here, sooo sad. I pm'd the OP for an update and she said she let the dog stay in the house at night but one morning when she let it out to pee she never came back!
Hounds are notorious for following a scent until they are well lost. Probably what happened to her in the first place. I hope she ends with a nice home.
It is always cats that make their way to our door and cannot take them in as I am highly allergic to cat hair. watery itchy eyes , scratching , clogged up nose and throat . really cant handle it . boy do I ever wish ppl would stop dumping their cats and other animals .
I work with a rescue that takes all dogs so look on Petfinder.com and find names of local rescues who take in dogs and they will handle it from there and get it a good home.
Unfortunately. due to the rising number of foreclosures on people's homes we have seen a tremendous increase in the number of dumped off dogs - particularly if you live out in the county.
