It is so sad, because it is SO, SO easy to keep a dog fit. I know many people who have obese dogs and they always say, "BUt I hate when they cry and bark at me for treats". I, too, hate that, and always give my dogs treats (lots of them). But my treats are ice cubes, green beans, clementine wedges, piece of kibble, etc, etc.

My dogs still think it's wonderful, and they don't gain weight. I also strictly measure their food (an 1/8 of a cup can make a huge difference) and augment with vegetables, so they feel full.

I wish it was as easy to do the same for myself!
