Bruce was neutered today. I brought him home a couple of hours ago and he lay down beside my desk. When he got up, there were a couple of spots of blood where he'd been laying. His incision is still closed, and he's not dripping blood when he walks, but when he sits, he's leaving a bloody spot. He has the e collar so he hasn't been licking the incision, but with his weird extra claws, he's able to scratch that area with his back feet. I haven't seen him scratch at all though.

Is a little bit of bleeding normal? I've had a puppy neutered, but never such a big dog and when the puppy was neutered, there was no sack left, just a little line of glue. Bruce still has the sack and it doesn't look much smaller than it did before he was neutered. (can you believe, it blocks the medical term for sack?)

Normal as long as it's just a few drops and/or some fluid.

I find it so funny when this site blocks perfectly kosher terms but oh well!

Also it can takes several weeks for the swelling to go down, during which time it will look like he still has testicles.

Thanks!

I'm going to call tomorrow if he's still bleeding but I was hoping not to have to take him to the emergency vet tonight.
