Yes in 2012 I stopped buying diet soda. I was buying 2 twelve packs a week and my husband and I went through 2 od them in 4 days. I started drinking regular soda when I went out to eat stopped that too. I feel better. I do drink seltzer and add lemon to it. It was not difficult to kick the habit.
Club soda and lime/lemon/cucumber or whatever. The only real addiction to soda would be to caffeine, otherwise it's just a psychological addiction. There's any number of ways to get the caffeine although there's really not that much caffeine in most sodas.
Dasani and others make flavored no calorie sparkling water. Reach for one of those instead of soda. Keeping them on hand has reduced my spouse's mountain dew habit substantially.
