I was having debate with a friend. he was saying that night time is best for exercise after 1 hour of dinner. I reckon morning time is best for exercise, the fresh air and mild sunlight blessed your body with so many benefits. What you guys say? morning or night?

The best time for exercise is 20 minutes after you put the fuel in.

If you leave the fuel in the fat store overnight, it's a bugger to get it out the next day.

Breakfast: 1000 calories of fast-acting fuel.

Lunch: 750 calories of fast- acting fuel.

Dinner 500 calories of slow stuff. (and take the dog for a walk afterwards!)

I've found that it depends on your personal body rhythms. I'm really a morning person...I have that cup or two of coffee, and I'm rearing to go. I always work out early in the morning before work (and since I start work at 6:30, that means EARLY). I'll combination jog/walk 5 miles to our our small down-town area and back (You wouldn't believe the other fools, like me, out doing the same thing at that hour), or if the weather is bad do an hour of bench step aerobics, followed by some weight reps, then a shower and off to work. I'm home in the afternoon, and in the winter I'll do my housework, nap, and/or watch a few hours of afternoon crap TV. In spring, when the days get longer, I'll get some more exercise outside - doing gardening and yard work, mostly. I live only two miles from where I work, so I'll usually walk there and back as well when the weather is nice. The best thing is get your exercise when your energy is at its peak and depending how the seasons affect you.

I agree - 20 minutes after eating and yes morning for me too. I don't sleep well, get up at 4:30 am and never stop until about 7 or so....and by then I'm in no mood to exercise....so morning exercise for me....after breakfast and dishes.

I eat 400 calories for breakfast, 500 for lunch and 250 to 300 for dinner....lunch is my main meal and when I eat the biggest variety of foods.

The best time to do exercise is when it is convenient for you to do it. When you can find a time that works for you and you can stick to is the best time. You are splitting hairs at this point. No need to micromanage it or else its just another excuse not to do it because you missed the optimal time.

I walk for 40 minutes on my treadmill 5 mornings a week sometimes 6 and it's 1/2 hour after my breakfast. It gives me energy for the day.

Whenever I can fit it into my busy schedule is the ideal time for me. I work out best in the morning, on an empty stomach, but that is just me. Whatever works for you personally is optimal

It has always changed though through the years.

I think it can depend on the exercise too. Relaxing ones make me mellow out. Intense ones make me sleepy. Average days just wake me up and make me want to move more, do projects I have been putting off etc.

I have read that if you can't sleep at night and you exercise later in the day or at night you should try switching to the AM. Kinda like the coffee rule of avoiding it after a certain time. I have only done intense ones at night as its the perfect time for me with fitting in the time, showers and the nicety of being able to relax afterwards. The other two types are nice for morning as they tend to be short in time and not draining.

During the work week I exercise in the afternoon. I have to be at work by 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, so there's no way I'm getting up any earlier than 5:30!

On the weekends I exercise in the morning. I have a cup of coffee, and then I'm off.

As long as you're doing it consistently, it shouldn't matter too much when.
