Although my husband says I look great after giving birth to our daughter a month ago, I do feel conscious when I go out of the house for some chores. Just the other day, a former neighbor approached and congratulated me. I assumed she'd heard about me giving birth but I was a bit dismayed when she asked how far along I was.
I do feel that I have to lose the extra pounds. I'd like to start on a routine that won't affect breastfeeding and one that I could do at home. Where do I get the exercise videos?

I would see what's at your local library first, most have extensive health/excercise DVD selections, often VHS too.

Google your city's library, they may have their card catalog online.

There are thousands of exercise vids/dvds out there and the only one that Ive seen that is worth spending any money on is P90x. All others are crap that are no better (and often worse) than the free stuff you can find on YouTube.

Do you have any equipment at your disposal? If you do not and money is short, I suggest a jump rope ($7.00) and two sets of dumbbells ($20.00-$30.00 each). A set of 25 pound dumbbells (for arm and shoulder movements) and a set of 45 pound dumbbells for squats, deadlifts ect. These are the lightest dumbbells you should get IF you are just a beginner to working out. If you are in better shape than a brand new beginner, get heavier weights.

On YouTube you can find some great yoga routines and some really great workouts (bodyrock.tv with Zuzana is one of my favorites) -

First of all, you have to create an exercise schedule so that you can make it a part of your daily routine. It really depends on how frequently you want to do your workout routines. You gotta have the discipline to follow through with your plans to achieve your goal.

I find videos from Workouts on Demand suitable for me. You can check it out http://www.workoutsondemand.com and see if that works for you as well.
And remember if you’re a beginner don’t over exert yourself to prevent injuries. Let your breathing be your guide. If you’re out of breath, you’re over doing it. Results may take a while, but you’re working out not having surgery, okay?
