Tusla, Oklahoma will be their new home. Sad day in Detroit sports as the Shock have won Championships in 2003, 2006 and 2008.

Eh, judging by the crowds at those games, I'm guessing most people will only hear of this because of the news story. If the Freep never published it, most people would have never missed them.

Kind of a strange state of entertainment and sports in our country right now. Certainly tells a story of where we are with "equality of the sexes", depending how deeply you want to read into these types of issues.

Probably better in Tulsa - a city that doesn't have a plethora of powerhouse professional franchises to dwarf a start-up league.

The Oklahomans might take some pride in having a professional team of any sort. Hope it works out for them.

I said in another thread that I was hoping the Shock could move to GR, keeping the team in MI. I don't know what the WNBA was thinking by putting that team in Detroit, or in any city with 4 pro teams.

Sexism or not, the WNBA will never compete with the NBA for fans. The level of play is just not comparable. When there are two levels of play, most fans will choose the higher quality and in Detroit, they had the choice and choose accordingly.

Agreed - I'm all for equality, but I went to many Shock games and they were BO-RING. It's too bad to see Detroit (well, Auburn Hills) losing more people for any reason, but I can't think of a reason for the Shock to stay.
