Any opinions on how the current economic issues affecting the city of Detroit will affect home owners with a Detroit address?

There is an EFM, sorta says a lot about the current economic issues of Detroit. Detroit property owners have yet to recover from the decline that started in the early 1980s.

I think most residents would agree that they'd like police and ambulances to show up within 10 minutes if they call 911.

Most of the nice places call private services not 911.

I would not expect things to change much under the EFM. They are working with a bare bones budget now and they will be working with a bare bones budget for probably far longer than any of us will live.

Things will turn around if we can convince Canada to purchase Detroit. Cities in Canada cannot, by law, run operating deficits. Just another example why it is a first world country while ours is sliding into 2nd tier status.

Why the hell would they want to purchase Detroit? The issue is, how much would we have to pay the Canadians for them to take it? Alternatively, we could just expel the City of Detroit from the Union.

Yea, let's expel the center of a $200 billion economy (larger than Toronto) and something that undoubtedly is apart of American history and had/ has a huge impact on America in many ways just because it's currently going through hard times.

I don't think antinic was serious...just trying to make a point about financial responsibility.

I think Detroit under the Emergency Manager will be good for Detroit. The mayor and council have their hands tied in many matters, while the EM has more power to change things. From an outsiders perspective, it looks like the state is now committed to turning the city around. But, of course, to those who are still lost in the 60's Civil Rights Era, it is nothing but a takeover by the KKK.

Wow you need to step back and get perspective. You mean the part of Detroit that looks like Beruit?
