Hi,

Can someone just tell me roughly where all of the nightlife is in Royal Oak? Also, is it safe at night to walk around down there?

Thanks!

Well there are some dangers ... such as ... slipping on a beer puddle after a yupster has a spill while eating al fresco at some eatery. Or, burning your lips because the latte was too hot. LOL!

Worry more about crossing the street with the drunk drivers than about getting mugged. Can't say it won't happen a couple blocks away, but in the thick of things you'll be fine. There's some good restaurants open until 3 on the weekends...Qdoba, Comet (I think), and one or two others. Good for people watching.

Oh yeah, back to your main question: Nightlife is nearly all within a half-mile of the intersection of Eleven Mile and Main (that's what they call Livernois in RO and Clawson). There's a club up North Main a block north of Twelve Mile called Luna that's supposedly pretty good. I'm not cool enough to get in, but my father in law goes there every now and then, so he must be. There's more going on down on Woodward near Nine Mile in Ferndale, too.

Living there for over 5 years, and I never had any problems in the Royal Oak/Troy areas. The only "issue" I had was by Wayne State when my car got broken into!

I wasn't aware that Wayne State was in the Royal Oak/Troy area. When did they open up that satellite campus?

It's safe. I never saw a good complex. Some friends did have great apartments in the upstairs of houses, etc., a few blocks away from downtown etc. Most of the complexes I saw were not very impressive.

I get the impression that most Royal Oak renters rent houses or flats.
