This was taken off of a county road near the Chichaqua Bottoms in NE Polk County. This is my favorite type of Iowa scenery, and is the most typical around the state.

I didn't realize that polk county was so big that it had farmland scenery like that, it just seems like Des Moines and the suburbs are everywhere...where'd the farmland go??

No there's quite a bit of rural land North and East of the metro... Polk Co. is nowhere near that built up lol.

when i went to des moines, i was amazed at how rural it was so close to the city. I had never seen a city that has so much rural land close to city limits. When I go to Pittsburgh for instance, its a half hour of stop and go traffic before I ever hit the city. In Des Moines, I just drove right in

Des Moines is no Pittsburgh, that's for sure. We're about 1.5 million people short of meeting their size of city.

I like Des Moines a lot more than pittsburgh. I definately like how its easier to get there, much less traffic, and Des Moines has a great skyline, so it does have that city feel, even though you can be out of the city in 10 minutes.
