My husband and I were supposed to move from the midwest to Denver, however, a possible transfer to Raleigh came up. I have always wanted to move back east- particularly to this area, yet my husband is adamant about Denver.
We're used to the fast paced city life and are looking for a better lifestyle, and one less stressful, where we can enjoy life, work and raise our young child.
We're both sports fans too, which has hurt the Raleigh argument. We both ski but we also both enjoy the water and beach as well. We have a few friends in Denver and just one couple we know in NC, so we're worried about meeting friends too. Additionally, we'd be closer to family (within driving distance) on the east coast. Any suggestions to help us reach a decision here? BTW, I know a similar question was asked not too long ago- any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated.

IMO, in this economy, job issues seem like the priority.

Denver does have all 5 pro sports, can be a bit hectic at time, nothing like NYC or other megalopolis. There's no real way to resolve the beach vs mountains issue.

It sounds to me like Denver would be a better fit for you. No skiing in Raleigh, one pro sports team and less friends. If it were me, in my situation, I would take Raleigh due to, IMO, better climate, proximity to the ocean, lower crime and nearness to your family. My 2 cents.

And what will really suck is if you go to Raleigh and don't like it, then your husband will likely hold that against you if he's "adamant" about moving to Denver.
