I currently live in an apartment where the floors/ceilings are super thin that you hear every noise your neighbor makes (and can hear me). Not a great situation. Does anyone know of a quiet building in the Denver area for not more than $700/month? I've getting tired of hearing 'footsteps on the ceiling', etc. The complex I live in was built in the 1980's so I thought an older building would quieter but a friend of mine lives in one built in the 1920's and has the same affliction.

So does this mean that all apartments are poorly constructed in Denver?
I was really hoping for more feed back...

I have some experience with some friends in the Lowry area and my own searches out in Highlands Ranch for apts, and other than luxury apartments, they're the same as apartments I've seen in every other city. Cheaply constructed with generally poor insulation(both for heat and noise). Your best bet is to look for a townhouse style apartment(which do exist in the area, my friends in Lowry picked one out for themselves) or maybe a place that was formerly an office building(converted loft space and such with concrete floors)

The places I know that are well insulated aren't cheap.

I've lived in various apartments in VA and NM and have NEVER experienced anything like I am now; that is not to say that I never heard my neighbors but it was rare. Here I hear everything! I was just wondering if it is mostly in the Denver metro area or I picked a crappy apartment; I guess it is the first...

Some people are very sensitive to noise from nearby units.

I just sold a house to a guy that broke his lease after newlyweds moved in next door.

I've lived in a $700/mo apartment here. The noise level drove me nuts. I now live in a place that runs around $900/mo and I can rarely hear my neighbors. If noise is bugging you this much you might look into spending a little more.

Rent a carriage house, there are plenty of them all over the metro area.

Could be differences back east, I guess. I've seen this in all parts of CA, UT, ID, and CO that I've looked
