I'm moving to Denver from California in a few months and am looking around for a 1 bed/bath apartment. Living in a safe/low crime neighborhood is my main priority. I don't need to be close to bars/nightlife -- I'd really like some place family & pet friendly and quiet. I'll be commuting to work (near Coors field) and would really like the commute to be less than 30 minutes.

Does anyone have suggestions of any nice neighborhoods to start my search or maybe even recommend any apartment buildings?

Also, how is the traffic in Denver? Do you get a lot of snow per year? Are road closures due to snow common?

Lodo, Downtown, Rino, Highlands, Cap Hill...

traffic is fine, 65 inches, sometimes.

I just snagged a place in Capitol Hill (Cat friendly, no dogs which is a bummer but I needed something on the spot)... From my apartment you can walk to Coors Field in roughly 35 mins. I cant comment on the snow and what not since I moved here but coming from Western NY, I am more than ready for whatever Denver has to offer... I really recommend the Cap Hill area to at least start your search, I am new here but a lot of people on these boards and other areas have recommended this area to me and Im glad they did.

Any of the close in suburbs should work for you.

Bad, but generally not as bad as most places in CA.

Absolutely. Worst case scenario, all roads will be impassable, all transportation shut down for days. Basically the city can get completely shut
down.

Thanks for the replies

I'm really concerned about the snow closures, or driving in the snow for that matter . Does the light rail still run during closures?

It is extremely rare for the city to shut down due to snow. It has been years since the last time I remember not being able to get around due to snow.

March 2009 was the last time the city was shut down.
