Hello all! I just arrived in Denver last week and am looking for an outdoor track that is open to the public. My husband and I are sprinters and while there were many tracks open to use back in Florida we haven't found any here. I have heard of a couple outside of Denver but would prefer one within the city limits. Any suggestions would be welcome; I don't want to let my training slip.
Thanks in advance!

Local high schools after school? Call the school and ask.

Are you looking for an all-weather track in pristine condition, or will any oval do? In my opinion, the type of track doesn't matter too much unless you're actively competing (and even then it's arguable). The 2 community tracks I've been to aren't the greatest, but are good options.

1. The old 400m cinder track at South High School just south of Wash Park is one option. The rubberized track in the football stadium is closed to the public, but this one is not fenced in and is used by the community.

2. One aging all-weather track with too-tight turns is at the middle school on 26th and Franklin, about 5 blocks from City Park. It's only 4 lanes and sometimes a teenager hangout but does the job.

Thanks for the input. I am looking for an actual track as my husband and I are competitive master sprinters and need to practice on the surface we will be competing on. I have not been able to find out if any of the schools within Denver have tracks. Perhaps we were spoiled by Florida's year-long outdoor training.
