I'm going to be moving to Colorado in the next year and was wondering how the IT job market is there right now. I am a QA Lead of 10 years with extensive SQL and Lead experience.

How is the market? Is Denver the ideal place or is there another city in Colorado more known for it's IT industry?

Denver and Boulder are the biggies. COLO SPGS has defense-related IT if one has a clearance.

Are the commutes into each pretty good and what is your feeling right now for the overall market? Dry? Thriving?

I plan on starting out just consulting through a firm like Genesis 10 or Sogeti just to get my foot in the door. if you had your pick of either what would you say? I realize this is just an opinion but I don't know the pros or cons of either.

OK if I can't just reply to the posting bc of the truncated email how the heck do I "subscribe" to the email version. I feel like a total NOOB.

Note: When you read the rmiug-jobs job postings online at YahooGroups, the email addresses get truncated to reduce email address harvesting and Spamming. In order to see the full postings (and be able to reply to a job you are interested in), you need to subscribe to the email version and receive email job postings. The emails you receive will have the full email addresses intact. If you simply "Reply" to a job posting from the web interface, that reply may get addressed to the full list and thus get rejected by the moderator.

I would say thriving. I'm an average software developer and I get 1-2 emails a day from recruiters just because I put my resume on sites like Monster, Careerbuilder, etc. a couple years ago. I agree the Denver area, Colorado Springs, and Boulder are where most of the jobs are. In Denver and the Springs, it helps to have a security clearance or the ability to obtain one. It's definitely nice to work 40 hour weeks with good pay. However I get a sense there are more commercial opportunities than in defense, if that's where your interest is. Best of luck to you.

I am either a QA LEAD or ETL developer pick your choice Would more of the IT jobs be in Boulder or Denver? You're right I'm more commercial and not defense.

This is just a guess regarding the IT field, but by the sheer size of the city compared to Boulder, Denver has got to have more jobs.
