Got my electric bill about a week ago and the bill was ridiculously low ($10). I called Xcel and they told me I could give them a corrected reading, which I did, and they'll revise the bill.

Why does it matter, you might ask,as it would be corrected by next month's reading, anyway?

Because this month, the higher summer rates go into effect. So what they did was shift some of my usage from the standard rate to a higher rate.

I wonder if this was an honest mistake, and coincidentally happened at the time of the rate change, or is part of a bigger conspiracy. I'm curious if anyone else had this happen?

Those Boulderite commies trying to infiltrate our precious bodily flu-- er, electrical...uh.....

Seriously, it *is* unacceptable for a company, particularly a monopoly, to make a "mistake" like this. I understand the difficulty in having competitive utilities due to infrastructure and the like, but someone MUST be at the helm, then, keeping them honest.
