Right, maybe you should read the whole thread before you post such things. I am not responsible for the sterotypes of the areas around Denver, but you can't deny they exist. I just stated the sterotype people have of Highlands Ranch is wrong just as you always correct people on the sterotype of lakewood and arvada. No different is it?

I may be biased but this is totally wrong. I do like diversity but HR is extremely undiverse. As far as income goes most everybody I know has a median household income of at least $100k in HR. David was correct in another thread stating it looks like SoCal.

I live in HR and it's 94% white if that means anything. Median income is in the 6 figures. A future Aurora? Not in a million years. Very friendly area, beautiful views, great people. Race has never been an issue there. Crime rate is mostly bored highschool kids doing stupid things. Great parks, trails, good place to raise a family!

Quoted for truth.

Being new to the Denver area and bored sometimes, my wife and I will just randomly drive around different parts of the metro area. We drove straight down the dreaded "East Colfax," which I understand is supposed to be one of Denver's worst areas. If people think that's "ghetto," then they're obviously not from a big(ger) city LOL.

Even the rough parts of Aurora and Commerce City, when compared to DC (my hometown), are laughable. Like most big cities, no matter what part of the ghetto you're in, as long as you mind your business and don't give anybody any hard looks, you'll be fine.

These corny ass teens and twenty-somethings who think they're bloods and crips don't know the first thing about being "ghetto"...LOL

skins_fan82, yeah, I kind of had that reaction when I came here from Jersey. I grew up next to the city of Trenton, and spent quite a bit of time there over the years. Denver "ghettos" aren't really anything like they are in Jersey or Philly. And like you said, MYOB and don't shoot anyone any hard looks, and you'll be fine. Read the crime pages on the news sites for Denver and then read them for Trenton (a much smaller city) - it's a totally different world.

I know what you mean, I recall the horrors of Anacostia in the 1980's.

I love this thread. The ignorance and hatred towards HR is laughable. The more you want to stay away from it the better. I don't want people who know nothing about the area living near me. Place is clean, friendly, great parks, great green belts and definitely not lower to middle class . It is cookie cutter and it isn't very diverse but that doesn't make it a bad place. I am not saying it is the end all be all of communities in the Metro area but I will defend it because I like it. Prior to moving to it I looked in Parker and Old Littleton. All great places. HR just appealed to me and it is a great place to raise a family.

Dude, it was CHAOS back then. That's when DC was #1 in murders for like 5 years straight.

I was a kid at the time, but now I see why my parents got us the hell out of the city and moved to the Maryland suburbs

I've only been here about 10 weeks, so my opinion doesn't hold much weight...

But Highlands Ranch seems like a very nice, upper-middle class area. Wish I could afford to live there LOL

A guy I work with lives near me in Meridian and he calls our area of Parker "A poor man's Lone Tree/Highlands ranch" LOL.

Oh yeah man, I know all about Jersey.

Now that's an area you should be afraid to travel. Certain parts of Jersey are a real dump. Being an east coaster, I've been all up and down I-95. Miami, Atlanta (kinda east coast), Charlotte, Richmond, DC, Baltimore, Philly, NYC, Boston. Jersey is BY FAR the most ghetto place I've ever been (in the US anyway).

I rode with a friend up to newark back in '99.....dude LOL. I was like wtf get me outta here.
