Hey all,

I just moved here from MA and am looking to live in a fun area where I would be able to walk to work during the days (16th street)/walk to the free shuttle and out to the funnest bars at night (will not have a car). It's two of us so tops we can spend is about 1400/month incl utils. What area should I live in? Any specific street suggestions? We need a place asap and I've been stalking craigslist like it's my job. Originally we wanted lofts in lodo but everywhere is either too expensive or has none available. Help por favor...thanks.

Uptown and Capitol Hill are affordable alternatives. You can also try 1600 Glenarm Apartments in the Central Business District -- I don't think those are TOO outrageous. Commons Park West Apartments on 16th & Platte Street is walkable to where you're going. There's also a number of loft rentals around Coors Field (or slightly to the north of it), that also are a bit cheaper than LoDo.

Yes, Lodo can be expensive but keep an eye on local newspapers as sometimes you may find some good/smaller ads than the big promotions that you may have seen when you searched for Lodo. Also, not all are listed on Craigs list. Try a local newspaper search (Rocky Mountain News or The Denver Post). As tfox said, Capitol hill is the other option, among others.

Welcome(soon) to this wonderful state.

capitol hill/city park (not close to 16th street but lots of bars/nightlife around this area too, plus a great big park)
golden triangle, very walkable and I'm sure lots of rentals in the Beauvallon on Lincoln as well as some of the loft/condo buildings on Cherokee St.
1600 Glenarm is suppossed to be a nice development and very convenient.
Also, the metro- have you looked into that.

Riverfront park/Lodo is probably too expensive and in my opinion, you are definitely paying for the cache of it in many cases (read: tiny 1 BR units!)

Also, highlands close to the bridge? There may be someone in The Dakota renting a place.
