Lakeside Amusement Park is getting to the end of its life. The land will become much more valuable for development, especially in a corridor between two new rail station on Sheridan; the one, soon to opened West Line, near Colfax and the now being constructing Gold Line at West 60th. Also the renewal of North Denver is already pushing the nearby suburban areas into a renewal. Federal and State Safety regulations will make it more costly to maintain this park. A new Walmart is now under construction on West 44th in Lakeside. You will see next the development of that crappy trashed race track area on the corner of 44th and Sheridan. Next the Amusement Park will close and a residential property will develop with some historical vestiges of buildings left on the property. The family will make more money, and with more future returns, on that investment than anything they can reap from keeping this amusement park opened.

Running an amusement park is hard work.
Clipping coupons is not.

You made me laugh. Very good short one liner but succinctly to the point. I understand this post, but do you really think that many people, today, understand the past history of clipping the coupons on their instruments of investments. When the old lady dies, the heirs will rush in; get rid of this headache of an amusement park and sit leisurely with scissors in hand.

Hopefully a wealthy preservationist will step in to save and renovate this gem. There may be some historical site tax incentives that would apply.
The Yelp reviews for Lakeside blow Elitch "Gardens" away, btw.
