Let me preface this question with this: I have a friend who is a Ph.D. chemist from New Jersey. He told me that he feels those folks getting cancer in Delaware are primarily ex-Dupont employees who didn't take the necessary precautions to protect themself. Since I am not there and able to get the reports on this, have any of you heard anything like this in the media? Does this sound right?
He worked in a number of labs with dangerous chemicals, so he does have some empirical knowledge of how easily a chemist can get harmed.

My friends father was a chemical engineer for Dupont. He was at the Seaford plant for 40+ years. He had prostate cancer but died of a heart attack in his late 70's. Hope this helps.

That sort of anecdotal report doesn't tell us anything. Prostate cancer is not a rare occurrence in men of that age and many men with nonaggressive prostate cancers will die of something else before they will ever die of a metastatic cancer originating in the prostate. The presence of some cancer clusters around the state has been documented, but I don't know if there has been any real study of the demographics of cancer victims within these areas.

my dad worked for dupont 30years in delaware. He worked as a research technician around many fibers in a lab. Never smoked or drink. He was diagnosed with cancer of larynx tumor in vocal cord. He was completely healthy before cancer. His exposure to cancer causing agents were high having only worked for Dupont. He passed 2010. He left that disease body and pick up a new body in heaven. He's with Jesus.

Sorry for your loss. Yet I'm afraid that doesn't tell us anything either about what caused the cancer. There's no way to know whether it was to do with work-related exposure to carcinogens or not.

My father's friend worked for DuPont for ~40 years, and is alive and well at 86.

Working at DuPont is not the only factor Joe, one has to be working at DuPont with the chemicals every-day ...as in a lab to be exposed to them in a prolonged manner.

Same for my Uncle Henry, age 88. He worked with chemicals every single day at DuPont until he retired. Healthy as an ox, but sassier, I'm happy to say!
