I love the idea of living in the Claymont/Arden/etc. area of Delaware, but understand that there are 8 Cancer pockets of the State as of an announcement in 4/08. Has there been any further information on this yet or not? Can anyone pass on what you've read so far about residents getting Cancer in
the northern parts of Delaware?

Is this what you are referring to?: Eight cancer clusters discovered in Delaware | Delawareonline.com | The News Journal

I haven't subsequently seen anything further. I would not be afraid of living in the Ardens. I'm not so sure about Claymont. Most of the areas are actually downstate, although the City of Wilmington is a hotspot. Note that the City of Wilmington shouldn't be confused with the greater Wilmington area and all its numerous suburbs. The above report is short on epidemiological details. One would want to know a great deal more about median length of residence and average age of cancer victims in the high occurence areas relative to matched controls, and so forth.

A Ph.D. chemist I know from N.J. told me today that most of the Cancer victims are people who worked for Dupont, but didn't do what they were supposed to do for safety in the factories. Theory or truth I wonder?
And, yes, that is the article I saw. It was over a year ago, and I was thinking they would have expounded on the information in this report by now.
My chemist friend said that IF the water was contaminated it is easily checked, and he said all kinds of people would be getting in trouble for the contamination (therefore, it WOULD be on the news aplenty). I, personally, can't see how this wouldn't be investigated and reported on. I question this article's validity. But, because I have considered moving to northern Delaware, this is something I'd love to find out before going further. The thought of dying doesn't...thrill me.
