The Thomas England House goes back quite a few years.........I remember when it was "Candy Manor" and the only place we could find white chocolate in the "old" days. Back then, tales were swirling about ghosts there

Last night, we dined at Bonz Seafood and Steakhouse, down at the Harrington Raceway and Casino. It was absolutely superb! That's the most elegant thing going on in or around Harrington..........dress code: men must have a collar! Exceptional dinner, lovely atmosphere, dynamic service, beautiful place settings, no hustle-bustle, and a table by the fireplace! Fillet Mignon, garlic mashed potatoes, thinly sliced seasoned and crunchy onions, unique dinner rolls, and a glass of merlot. Our tab was $75 dinner for 2. This could be habit forming.

Oh My...........The way you described the restaurant and the diner.
My mouth was actually watering. I love Filet Mignon. My favorite.
Sounds like a nice place to go for a special ocassion. Is this place right on Rt 13? We will certainly try this place. I'm going to be dreaming about this filet till I do.
As I said before in another post..........I love hearing your stories about the old days and learning what this area was like back in the day.

You are very kind, Eliza! Sometimes you may have to ignore me because I tend to go on and on about my home state

Now, Bonz is INSIDE Harrington Raceway and Casino. South on 13 through Felton, through Harrington, and on the right is the Delaware State Fairgrounds, where the former Midway Slots (now renovated and name changed). There's an entrance on the right, after you cross the railroad tracks. Drive in, bear to right, then bear left. The part renovated will be in front of you, but bear to the left where the new section is. Just go in the front doors, and follow the yellow stone carpet to the right which leads to the cocktail lounge and restaurant. Reservations suggested, and no children. You will love it!!

Hey maybe later I may ignore you but for now I find you interesting. Have not met too many true delawarians that can tell stories about back in the day.
I am from Philly......born and raised. This area is so new to me. And I have to tell you ....I love the ruralness and wide open spaces.
Oh yes I know, it is nothing like it was and if I think these are wide open spaces, I should have been here back in the 60's

Before we moved here, I knew nothing about DE except there was no sales tax.
Never been to De beaches or anywhere else in DE.
Always went to the Jersey shore. I like the DE beaches much better. my favorite is Cape Henelopen.
They say De is becoming the new Florida. I just retired in Feb this year to DE and so far my hub and I love living here.
met some great people too especially on this forum.

ok. Let's go...I'm in. Maybe we could have our holiday get together there....

Oh, and I checked the Dover Post for Thanksgiving. The Dover Sheraton is the only restaurant so far advertising for a 2 pm seating .
They are taking reservations for dinner in their Champagne Ballroom.

mab10,

Dover Post does have a website... you can always read the online version. The paper actually comes out on Wednesday for distribution, but the online version is usually accessible late Tuesday nights.

Elizamary,
You told Delly you had wished you had been in DE during the sixties. You were probably in the fourth grade.
