We are looking for comments, thoughts, feedback, etc. regarding The Charter School of Wilmington. We recently attended their Open House for our current 8th grader. Did you or your child attend the school? Were you in or out of the district? Thanks

Both of my friend's children went there and she feels that they received an excellent education and were well prepared for college. Do you have specific questions?

That school has a great reputation and its probably the hardest high school in the state to get into, ranked what 36th best high school in the entire U.S. Over 900 freshman students apply and the school is down to 920 something for 9th-12th grades. I don't have any kids that go or went there but I only hear great things about it.

Thanks for the feedback, etc. At Open House, they indicated they would be taking in 240 freshman. I am concerned about several things....attending from a distance socially and in terms of participating in activities, maybe too much pressure.

My cousin's son attended this school, and my cousin feels her son received an excellent education as well. I've never heard any negative comments about this school, ever.

My daughter went there. Excellent school. I can't say enough good things about it. We lived in the red clay district. Your child would be extremely lucky to get in.

The Charter School is a very nice school, but its controversial due to location and who gets in.

The location of Charter School of Wilmington isn't bad -- it's (note proper use of apostrophe when contracting "it is") a transitional area sandwiched between upscale neighborhoods along Dupont Road and a range of housing along Lancaster Pike, ranging from Section 8 to solid working class just to the southeast (the area that segues into Elsmere). Much of what is along Lancaster Pike to the north includes solid businesses such as a large veterinary clinic, Feby's Fishery, Mercedes dealership, indeed even the venerable old Jackson Inn (a reasonably respectable and safe dive bar).
