I'll probably be MIA for a while. I spent all last night trying to fix whatever I did to my computer a couple of days ago. In trying to fix things, I made them worse. That's what happens when you dont know what you're doing and then un-doing. I've tried using System Restore, going back as far as possible, and googling the problems, as well as other things that have worked for me in the past. No go.
Anyway, after I fix all this mess (if I fix it), I'm not going to worry about April 9 (the day that Microsoft stops supporting Windows XP). My only real concern was that I do all my banking and bill-paying online and I dont want anyone to hack into my computer and get access to those accounts. But now Firefox wont let me into some credit card and bank sites -- so, until I fix it, I guess I dont have to worry about anyone getting in there. So I'm going to be working on my computer until I can fix everything.

Thanks, everyone. I think I've got it almost fixed. Firefox did an update the same day that I made so many changes. I didnt know about the update and didnt realize that some of the stuff I was trying to un-do was due to the Firefox updates -- so, to try to fix everything, one of the things I did was re-set Firefox back to the way it was originally (when I bought this computer 8 years ago). What a mess. It took me a while to figure out which changes were actually done by Firefox and which ones were done by me. I should be back to posting as soon as I can fix a few more issues.
