Thanks TFW (wouldn't let me rep you again) - if you've read the house thread you know of all the issues that came up too - when it rains it pours... I remember you talking about the a/c going out - that's a fear as well.. the last time I had maintenance done on it the co. (who really does try to upsell) - said "it MIGHT last this summer) - that was 2 yrs. ago. I have to research clothes dryers - it's a Kenmore but with all that water over and in it... I am NOT even going to attempt to use it. It is pretty old so .....
I think I read something about your house on the House thread, Flamingo, but I dont recall what it was. I'm still dealing with this sinus issue (we're having Seattle's winter this year and the wetness is murder on my allergies) -- so, when I'm feeling better, I'll go there and check it out. I'm sorry you're having such problems. Maintenance and repairs are the big downside of home ownership.

LOL - I was joking w/a neighbor that I feel like we're in Seattle - so much rain - we're both having terrible sinus issues. Hope you feel better soon. True, maintenance and repairs but.. due to various financial issues - I'm here for at least a couple yrs.
I'm in the same situation, Flamingo. I want to move out of my crime-infested area into some place like where my daughter is. She lives on 4 acres bordering the Davy Crockett National Forest and there is no crime at all up there. She leaves her doors unlocked and has valuable jet-skis and new trucks in front of her house -- 4 years and never a break-in.
I still have to finish paying off old medical bills (from my stroke and foot surgery) before I can sell my house and move. Good thing I did that remodeling back in 2007 and really enjoy living in my house.
Just to update: my neighbor replaced my disposal and checked out my dryer (it wasn't fried!! YAY) - he wouldn't take payment - I'm going to bake or something to thank him. Total cost was just the disposal (and of course the furnace part) - thankful for good neighbors and that I didn't have to come up w/a huge outlay of $$$!
Not that long here but I do indeed have some good neighbors (and I try to be one as well).
