Can anyone tell me if Twin Creeks in Allen would be a good place to retire.
We are not from Texas and need somewhere that we can meet people easily and be active.

Default Re:

I would think no. That community is very extensive, and it's aimed at families.

Look at the over-55 communities of Frisco Lakes and Robson Ranch. These are geared for people like yourself and will not ever have a bunch of families in them.

Default Del Webb in Frisco

There is also Del Webb in Frisco.

It is a very active Senior Community.

You do pay a bit of a premium for all of the activities, but it always seems like everyone is hanging out and having a great time.

I would say yes. Twin Creeks has a diverse community. Granted it is aimed at families, but they amenities are awesome and the community itself it great. Will there be kids and more family oriented stuff? Sure. But there is plenty of stuff to do with other retired folks there as well.

One of the things you get in Twin Creeks that you won't get in ANY of the retirement communities and that's the mature trees. If are nature lovers, you would like TC a lot. It is indeed very diverse as TXGolfer130 says.

The retirement communities have a bit of a "sterile" feel to them IMO.

What about Heritage Ranch? It's not too far from Twin Creeks and is a retirement community... I helped some people sell a home that were building in Heritage Ranch. I had the opportunity to tour the area and it's very neat, lots of nice homes in several different price ranges, guarded gate and a huge clubhouse, golf course...lots and lots to do...

thank you all - the info helped. We are going to look at all areas when we're there in December.
Hopefully we can decide. The actual retirement areas just kind of scare me - we're still in our 50's and retiring early.

Twin Creeks' own website states it was built with the family in mind, but it seems like it's been around long enough that some of those original owners in Twin Creeks would now be empty nesters.

That is very true. Many people that had their kids the 90s and then grew up, downsized to a single story and stayed within TC.
