I'll be visiting family near Firewheel Mall in Garland next week. Is there someplace nearby where I can get a good 5 or 6 mile run? I'd like to find an actual running trail with an unpaved surface and no vehicle traffic (ie not running along sidewalks).

unpaved............ what about beside the sidewalk? Breckinridge Park which is right on the border of Richardson and Garland and super close to Firewheel has a long extensive trail for riding/walking. It is off of Brand just past Campbell. There is a unpaved bike trail as well close to Firewheel along Rowlett Creek. There is a parking lot at the trailhead on Centerville between Firewheel Pkwy and Hwy 66. Maybe that would work. If you wanted a track you could go up to Naaman Forest High School which is on 190 just on the other side from Firewheel Mall.

unpaved............ what about beside the sidewalk? Breckinridge Park which is right on the border of Richardson and Garland and super close to Firewheel has a long extensive trail for riding/walking. It is off of Brand just past Campbell. There is a unpaved bike trail as well close to Firewheel along Rowlett Creek. There is a parking lot at the trailhead on Centerville between Firewheel Pkwy and Hwy 66. Maybe that would work. If you wanted a track you could go up to Naaman Forest High School which is on 190 just on the other side from Firewheel Mall.
