We live in Lewisville. If we are assigned to a particular school (say A) and would like our child to attend a different school (say B) due to better rating, my questions is, is it doable? If so, what's the procedure? Any help would be appreciated.

In most districts, you can't. You usually need a valid reason to transfer--such as a hardship in getting the kids to the school. So, if one school were closer to your work location, this would be a possibility. Another way is for a curriculum transfer--I know in most districts, if some sort of class or program is offered at one school but not at another, you can use that knowledge to transfer. For example, in Dallas ISD, a lot of kids take German so they can attend WT White High School rather than Thomas Jefferson High School.

Note that most LISD schools are going to be pretty equal academically--brief differences in TAKS accountability rating really don't mean anything important when considering how good a school is.

The other option is private school, of which there are lots to choose from in the Metroplex.

The transfer form is on this page on the Lewisville ISD website:

looks like there is still time to apply for next fall but much depends on enrollment for the school you want to move to...

but your terminology is not accurate--children are not ASSIGNED to a school unless they might be special needs group where all are assigned to one particular school...
if you LIVE in a school's catchment you are ZONED for that school...not assigned to it...there is nothing special anyone does to put your child there...YOU did it when you bought that house...don't think Lewisville has had as much realignment from growth as say Keller ISD...but Lewisville does not make my newspaper very much...
