hey everybody...

I'm native East Coast boy turned West Coast. Hear Dallas IS the place to be right now and seriously considering it.

However, I'm a bit worried about finding a job, place to live, local acceptance being an out gay man. Anyone have any info on living openly and gay in the DFW area?

Thanks!

Dallas has many gay people and you will have no problem. Try the Oaklawn area and Uptown areas. Pretty diverse area that you should like.

Just Google two words "Gay" and "Dallas". Let's just say they go together like peas and carrots.

Dallas is gayer than a Cher concert. You'll be fine. The biggest gayborhood is Oak Lawn. That is closely followed by North Oak Cliff. Here is an interesting article in Time Magazine from 2 years ago:

Just curious. Who (besides people on this forum ), are saying Dallas IS the place to be right now? Not saying I disagree but just wondering.

In any case, you shouldn't have much to worry about. While the main gay area is Oak Lawn, and one of its main streets, called Cedar Springs, is where some of the more obvious bars and shops are (Cedar Springs Merchant's Association* ::* Welcome), don't feel you have to be restricted to this area. Knox-Henderson, Lakewood, and North Oak Cliff might also appeal.

You can live anywhere in the DFW area if you are gay. Few people give a rat's patootie.
