Can anyone recommend any jazz bars or comedy clubs in Dallas. I live in northen dallas near Frisco Square. I've heard some things about Addison but nothing relating to Jazz. As a brit expat having an ear for these things is not hereditary.

btw....other than Greenville Ave of 75 are there any good areas for clubbing? I'm originally from London devoid of the snootiness and so can appreciate a good bar hopping lively atmosphere but surely Greenville is not the only good area for this in DFW.....btw...24 but my taste contrast oscillate and wane like everyone elses ....any recommendations welcomed.

The Improv in Addison is pretty popular. They had Pauly Shore there a few weekends ago. It's at Beltline and Quorum, upstairs. Next to Pete's Dueling Piano Bar (not a jazz bar, but a dang good time).

In Addison, check out:

Jazz:
Sambuca - Sambuca Restaurants - Four Star Cuisine, Live Music 7 Nights a Week
Mercy - Mercy >> Dallas Wine Bar. Ricki Derek is playing this Sat., if you're a Sinatra fan.
Avanti Bistro - Avanti Neighborhood Bistro (http://www.avantirestaurants.com/avantie/index.htm - broken link)

Bar:
Londoner - The Londoner Pub - Addison, Texas for a taste of home

Up there in Frisco, you can also go to Terilli's Terilli's Italian Restaurant and Bar for Dining in Dallas and Frisco for Italian and Jazz

Most of the good bars in Dallas are along the following streets:

Greenville Ave
McKinney Ave
Knox-Henderson Ave

And there are some downtown and some popping up over by Victory Plaza.

I don't think you will find anything like these in Frisco.

Addison also has a ton of bars at Tollway and Beltline. Sherlocks, Flying Saucers, Chaucers, etc.

Terilli's on Greenville and Lakewood Theater Balcony Club near Abrams and LaVista.

Haven't been to Brooklyn but I hear that is great.
