So me and my wife are interested in exploring the local jazz scene. We just moved back to TX from TN and want to make it a point to get out more than we did when we lived here previously. We live in Las Colinas, so the closer the better. Any places that are a must visit? We aren't into drinking much, so we prefer a more laid back atmosphere where heavy drinking isn't as common as simply having a glass of wine or two with a meal while enjoying some musical talent. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Pearl, Commerce and Pearl streets, downtown Dallas.

Every thursday night at the Dallas Museum of Art, about 6PM to 9PM, a different jazz band. Free, food and drink is optional.

Terilli's on Greenville has been doing this since the mid-1980s. Great place. Also you might want to hit St. Martin's up the street for a nitecap. Piano player Ben cannot be stumped by a request.

Haven't been to Brooklyn but have heard good things. If that's not good then hit Absinthe..

Any place that has jazz stuff going on that isn't so posh or bent on the ritzy? I can't stand smelling Dillards perfume. Something more gutter or with some soul? Deep ellum?
