Me and my wife are most likely returning to the metroplex after living in Knoxville for the last 1.5 years. We love Knoxville, but the job market is not good at all for our niche. We had lived in Plano for years, but we also worked and played in Plano, so intercity commutes were not much of an issue. The job I will most likely be offered will be in south Arlington at Matlock and I20. My wife has been searching as well, but almost everything she has seen so far has been in the Dallas/Plano/Richardson area.

So far, we are leaning torwards moving to the Coppell area as it seems like the most central location for commuting. Is this a good central location for commuting to the areas I mentioned. For me, I would have off peak hours of 10-7, so rush hour would not be a concern. My wife would likely have to deal with rush hour. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Coppell & my wife used to go into downtown D. It's about 17 miles and about a 25-35 minute commute. Depends where in Arlington you're going, far south might be a hard drive with 360 being a terrible road. The new George Bush Toll Rd is being built that way which should help a lot.

House sales in Coppell are extremely good and prices are going up. What price range will you be in?

Coppell is one of the best locations (& schools) in DFW - thus big demand for housing. It's also a small city of about 35,0000 so housing is limited.

starting from 183--airport freeway--360 S/N at those times would not be bad at all--
7pm going home would still be pretty busy but doeable--don't know about getting into Coppell itself--
360 is always busy and there are plenty of hot-shot drivers that speed and draft each other --Arlington/GP has its quota of gangs and they like to do stupid things in cars...you would still have to use I20 to get to Matlock--and there are some surface streets that parallel 20 that you could use-

for your wife--of course it just depends on where she is working--but there is no public transport in Coppell to those areas at this time that I know of...
