IMO the best trails might be the following for dirt.

Cedar Ridge Preserve
Cedar Hill State Park
Rowlett Creek Trails, close to Rockwall

Take a drive down to Waco and hit up Cameron Park. The US Mountain Bike Olympic Trials have been held there as well. The Cedar Hill spots are President Bush's trails he mountain bikes.

Flower Mound has excellent running and biking trails. Here is the link with trails in specific areas.

The Grapevine side of Flower Mound also has some of the best biking and hiking trails in the DFW metroplex.

Pristine river bottom, tons of wild life and a chance to totally get away from civilization.

North Texas Greenbelt
Had to go on an errand to Denton yesterday, took 380 from McKinney. I noticed the parking lot for this Greenbelt Park trail is still blocked at the entrance. I remember it all being underwater after the big spring floods, wondering if the floods did damage to the parking lot that has yet to be repaired.
