Any thoughts/opinions on Coppell?

I visited the area recently and liked it more than other nearby communities (Colleyville, Southlake, Grapevine, Flower Mound). I thought that it had an established community feel and some nice parks/open spaces. Are the schools good? Is the area stable, or is it on the decline? Is it a convenient commute to major companies in downtown Dallas and Las Colinas?

I want a safe area with a strong community feel and good elementary schools.

Not sure about Grapevine, but Colleyville, Southlake and Flower Mound all have excellent schools. All 3 also ranked high in Big D's survey of the best places to live in Dallas.

Grapevine and Colleyville are the same school district.

Looks like that's correct:

I have customers that live in Coppell and love the schools, but I've never heard them mention Grapevine. I drove through Grapvine the other day and it seemed nice. Coppell looks newer.

Coppell is a great little city! You rarely hear anything bad about it and it's very convenient to Dallas, malls (vista ridge, galleria, grapevine mills) and to the airports.

Coppell has been around a long time. Back when it was nothing but large lots, some w/ acreage and lots of trees. Before tract homes and such and the only place to eat in town was the DQ, it was really nice. Back then my parents really wanted to move out there. It has changed A LOT!!! So much it does not even look the same to me anymore. Down around Bethel School & Moore are the older really nice custom homes. My dad did a lot of work on those back then. Oh well, progress..........
