Why do we have to suggest a large hosptial downtown? While the smaller ones may not have a huge amount of pt's or the excitement of Parkland, Las Colinas Medical Center and Baylor-Grapevine are very close to Irving if they choose to live there. Also, if you chose a place so close to home, you might decide to pick up a couple of PRN shifts just to keep your license and skills up to date. Then when you are ready to return to work on a steady basis, you wouldn't have to take any refresher courses. And if you worked in the Baylor system, you could transfer to another Baylor facility like the one downtown when you were ready to work full time.

I am looking for areas close to hospitals too except I would rather work at some of the smaller ones instead of the huge ones in Dallas. I would love to be in an area that puts me close to a number of hospitals in case I wanted to per diem work.

Thanks for the suggestions. Just another quick question. Say I choose to work at Baylor in Dallas or Parkland and I lived in Coppell, Carrollton or Grapevine. If my shift started at 7pm would I be driving against traffic at that hour making my commute a lot quicker?

Most likely, yes, you would be driving against traffic.

Coppell and Valley Ranch would both be a good fit. Super close to Irving, both good school districts and not too far in to the bigger hospitals. My husband commutes in to UT Southwestern/Parkland and with traffic usually not more than 35 minutes, but if he goes in early or against traffic it's 25 minutes tops from where we are in Coppell.

There are several other smaller hospitals close by as well that are part of the Baylor system.
