I can tell you the ones in Oklahoma and Louisana are full of Texas plates and I do mean full.

There are a few more casinos like the Horseshoe and Sams Town that you can head to for more selection.

I hear the casinos in OK are a ripoff... where they charge $0.25 per hand for blackjack in addition to your bet.
My fiancee and I love Boomtown. We've been twice now and its our favorite one in Bossier. If you get their slots reward card, they send some really great coupons too. Last trip we had two free nights in the hotel, free dinners and some slot play money too.

I'm bumping this up to see if anything has changed on the Oklahoma casinos. Is it just Choctaw on I-75 and Winstar on I-35E? What are the casinos like? How are the blackjack rules? Do they have craps?

My wife goes to these casinos all the time. She prefers Winstar over Choctaw. I know they do have craps and blackjacks but like stated earlier to .25 per play at the Choctaw one. I have never been to Winstar so I can't comment on that one. They do make great day trips if your bored sitting at home.

Without a doubt the best casino environment near Dallas is called the Las Vegas Strip.

Vegas is hurting. Get a cheap room.

I was just in Vegas. Everyone kept saying it was hurting but I sure didn't see any empty casino's, hotels (tried to upgrade in ours but everything was full and booked solid for the entire week), restaurants, shows, etc. Every show we went to was PACKED! The restaurants were packed during normal meal times. The casinos......... couldn't hardly find a spot to sit at a blackjack table. Except during the day when the casinos are always a little slower. The pools were PACKED. The malls and the stores in them were busy and seemed to be doing better than the malls here. And there every other hotel has a mall w/ the same stores in it. The plane going out....... FULL with 37 people on STANDBY! Even the spa at the hotel we stayed at was busy and we had to change plans just so we could do a couples massage.

I know that about 400 conventions got cancelled this year for Vegas but I sure didn't see any signs of it.

That was how it was when I was out there for an event last month.....completely packed! Definitely no signs of a slow in business.

You're right about that. It's reported that if you win big at the Winstar, they come out and claim the machine malfunctioned and you win nothing. I've never been there but my friends that like to go off to the casinos rather go to the "boats", as they like to call them. (That's Shreveport). Although it's a longer drive.

My Bro-in-law visit Jack's Horse Shoe in Shreveport often and once came home with enough dough to build a new deck and install a new hot tub. Five figures.

Last time I was in Vegas it hit 116 degrees. I could not wait to get out of that inferno. I will go back but it won't be in August.

Yeah but the dry heat thing really holds up. When I lived in Vegas and worked at the Paris, I could go for a run or ride in the heat of the day and it was awesome. Then when I moved to Florida from there, I almost died walking out of the airport!

Glad to hear that the city is busy, at least on the Retail consumer side. I seriously hold out for Vegas, I cannot stand the Winstar, etc.
