Allen and Frisco are always behind in every metric that matters but state testing, why is that so?

Plano did good as usual. Even their weakest link is much stronger then Friso, Allen, McKinney, Richardson etc. Carroll, HP and Coppell didn't do as well as they should've.

I am surprised Lovejoy is not also in the top 10.

The ranking is a joke just like Newsweek Magazine is a joke.

How can you have an average AP score of 2.x vs Thomas Jefferson's 4.x?

LOL.

Dream on. This is grade inflation on a national scale.

PISD, Flower Mound, Coppell, and Paschall are all publics and their top kids walk all over the DISD kids in every category.

Only TAMU might give the top public kids a run for their money.

This is like Newsweek coming out with a top 2000 HS football programs and naming Lovejoy #3 and Little Elm #4.

Even if you ignore the ranking and just look at the metrics then these are the best performing schools. Its kinda unfair to put selective schools in same category as the collective schools. If Plano could be selective then their schools would easily beat these advantaged schools.

Actually, Plano beats these schools. And so does Coppel, FM, HP, etc. These are so-called "elite" schools yet they are way down the line when it comes to AMC, NMSF, and lots of other elite metrics.

And among the "exam schools" in the area - TAMS and most of the Privates, the DISD magnets are in the bottom rung in comparison.

I think the DISD magnets do a good job, but they are not among the top schools in the area. They have a long, long way to go. Keeping them aware of that fact means they will continue to improve.

TAG had 10 NMSF, IIRC, out of a class of ~50. That's almost 20%.

Yes, I know it's only ~50 students, but among that small group, TAG puts up impressive numbers. Of course, it looks less impressive when one considers that there are ~7,500 students in the "senior" classes of all DISD schools, and these are the most of the best of that group.

Question for those of you who understand all these ranking formulas better than I...

Mckinney Boyd did very well on the US News rankings, but is absolutely NO WHERE to be found on the Newsweek rankings. I understand the methodology/how much things are weighted is different from one list to another. But I find this situation particularly odd since Boyd's basic metrics considered in the Newsweek methodology are much higher than the lowest ranked school on their list. Is it possible this school wasn't included in the rankings, and if so, why would that be the case?

My theory is that these rankings with different weighting systems exist only to provide fodder for arguments about school quality on City Data.

20% NMSF is very impressive. It puts them right with St. Marks, Hockaday, etc. The best high school in America- no. But, still very good numbers. DISD had 14 overall- thus, TAG is the best of the best for DISD.
