I hardly doubt that well meaning and loving parents who value their childrens education will sacrifice it, however those moving to the area will have their own criteria in mind.

We are also coming there in the next couple of weeks and have narrowed it down to the triangle of West plano or plano senior, west allen and frisco (pretty much along the 121). When we get there, we will see what fits our vibe, rent for a year and then make a decision on where to buy. For all I know...we could take a drive thru southlake, coppell and flower mound (all with excellent schools and closer to the airport)...and just feel at home there (husband likes greenery and a little more land--something that cannot be found in frisco..but in allen).
The OP asked about Lovejoy and PISD relative to a number of rankings/surveys. Further, no one hates Frisco/Prosper/Lovejoy ISDs. People believe Frisco ISD in particular underperforms relative to PISD especially given FISD's better predictive metrics like higher incomes, fewer hispanic students etc. The claim isn't that Allen, Frisco and Lovejoy are bad schools - they are good schools with lots of students performing admirably. However, Plano ISD has a long track record of producing large numbers of fantastic students. At my house we value education very highly and the expectation bar for our children is very high. If we were to decide between Frisco, Allen, Lovejoy, Prosper or PISD it would be Plano.

I like your plan of moving here and looking around a bit before buying.

Best of luck and welcome to Texas!

I am glad to hear that from you....but if you do a search thru the threads.....the usual suspects dont say it as nicely as you do. The term HATE and "sheetrock" have come up. ..dont have the desire to dig em up.. but they are there.

Quite frankly as someone who looking in the triangle area of schools, is a big turn off to those of us newbies who are trying to find out about the area with the "tongue and cheek" comments. Ijust had a lady stop by and say..if you have a choice(which we do)...between austin and dallas...austin has down...the vibe there. I have a couple of expat friends who have told me about this mysterious vibe. We will have to check it out (another post for the austin thread)

Thanks for the welcome~
