The Worst Cities For College-Educated Women Trying to Find a Decent Date - Jordan Weissmann - The Atlantic

Always nice to have a well-written article from a respected media outlet to back up what I've been saying for a while now.

Wow! That is terrible!

Does it increase my chances that I have a Master's and would not mind dating someone who stopped at a Bachelor's? LOL

Interesting article, thanks for posting!

Actually Dallas is very close to the national average, less than 1% "harder". Coming in at 56th of the 102 largest metro areas.

Of the 15 largest metro areas, it's ranked fifth worst.

We ranked at 56 out of 102, so close to the middle. If you look at the full list, DFW's 30% gap is much closer to the smallest gap of 3.5% than the largest at 82%. Also there's not a big difference between Houston, Dallas, and OKC. More women graduate from college, so these numbers shouldn't surprise anyone. The gap comes from soft degrees, in careers dominated by women.

Semantics. Nationally for every 1000 guys with BAs there are 1297 women (with BAs). In Dallas there are 1304.

See my response above.

Oh, and your comment about "soft" degrees is pretty insulting, especially given the dearth of college-educated men around here. Are you saying that a soft degree is worth the same as no degree?

I make a pretty good living with my "soft" degree.

The gap comes form "The End of Men". You don't read enough of the Atlantic

I also think it's pretty insulting. You think 11% more of men (the gender gap) are capable of getting BAs but aren't because they're doing so well for themselves?
