To those that are new to the area, the seemingly large mosquitoes that you see right now around your lawn and the areas outdoors are called crane flies. They are sometimes WRONGLY called "mosquito hawks." They do not bite or sting. Below is an article on them.

Last summer was REALLY bad; they constantly got into the house when you opened the door.

Haha we have these in Canada ( I guess I ought to expect them in Texas aswell). They're harmless, and boy do cats LOVE chasing these things!

I thought they were called MayFlies. They sure are annoying. I've got my dog trained to kill them. She got three today. Not bad for a very blonde beagle!

They're in my house and there are little crane fly corpses on the floor every morning with legs or wings missing; the cats LOVE 'em.

Mayflies are a different type of flying insect. I've only seen them at lakes and rivers.

The craneflies have been very abundant lately. My dog used to freak out trying to catch them but now he's starting to realize it's pretty futile since they fly to the ceiling and stay there. Nevertheless, I've found several dead ones in my house. I also tend to leave the sunroof open in my car to let fresh air in when parked and I usually have one greet me when I get in it. Better craneflies than mosquitos...

Default another annoyance coming

Just saw my first pill bug the other day. If it's anything like last summer it'll be another pill to swallow! Another tough pill to take!
