Howdy folks! I'm hoping that someone in this community is in law enforcement and can give me some advice or help.

My wife has degrees in both Crime Scene Investigation and Criminal Justice that she obtained in North Carolina. Upon graduation, we moved back to my hometown in Miami, FL, but she had a hard time finding a job there. She ran into three problems:

1) In Miami, a lot of departments want you to be a sworn police officer before you can get a CSI job.

2) My wife doesn't speak Spanish, and in Miami, it's difficult to get a job without being bilingual.

3) My wife doesn't have any work experience, so the very few jobs that didn't require you to be a sworn officer asked for 3+ years of experience.

Now that we're here in Dallas, I'm hoping that she can get a CSI-related job. Does anyone out there have any advice, tips, or ability to help her get her foot in the door or how to go about doing so?

Thanks in advance!

This probably isn't very useful, but I think u are going to run into the same problem here...She may have to be a sworn officer and serve her time on the streets, and then work her way up. :/ I could be wrong, but my husband is a police officer and that is the way it is in his department. Hopefully someone else will have some insight.

If you care to share--
are these college degrees or certifications?
Why did she get them w/o knowing more about what it would take to actually get a job?

https://wit.twc.state.tx.us/WORKINTE...&sort=&pageNo=

that listing is for someone with college degree and at least two years experience--not necessarily police officer certification/background because it is Investigator IV--an experienced rating...

https://wit.twc.state.tx.us/WORKINTE...RESULTS&sort=0

this one is older posting by police dept at UNT in Denton

I think you are going to have a difficult time
I know someone who had college friend who fell in love with CSI--forensic science--
got college degree and was top student but had to go to New Mexico--ABQ to find a job
difficult--at least for him
