I realize how far-fetched this it, but I don't think it'll hurt to ask. I'm currently a college student up north facing a situation that requires me to relocate to Dallas immediately for the next 2-3 months. Unfortunately, I don't have relatives I can stay with, and my budget is nothing more than $500 a month because I have to continue paying rent for my regular place. I was wondering if there are any furnished student apartments or cheap short-term apartments in the area. I don't really care about the crime as long as it not absolutely horrible. Unfortunately, extended stay kind of hotels (at least the ones I've looked at) are about $800 a month, however, if you know of any cheaper, that would also be helpful. Thank you in advance, everyone.

check Craigs list--you might find something for sublet or someone wanting to rent a room in a house
Padnapper got too many bad calls lately for me to recommend it again--
you might also call the university you will be attached to if you are coming in for some type of seminar and see if they have suggestions--get a letter from your dean to dean of UT Dallas or SMU

do you belong to a church--sometimes pastors at churches in same denomination know each other from seminars or being transferred around--your pastor might have some suggestions

you might also call some of the RE firms that deal with high $$$ homes and explain your situation and ask if they have clients who want house sitter--
and I hope you can back up the fact that you are uber respectable and not a scam artist

Denton is NOT where you need to be unless you will be at UNT or TWU--it is a 30-40 min drive to NORTH DALLAS much less inside the loop
don't know why someone said that except was not really paying attention to your post

There's a hotel that is not too bad that offers a super reasonable weekly rate called the Sterling hotel. Its not a scary area, just somewhat industrial. It sits on the northwest edge of Dallas on John carpenter Frey (hwy 114). They offer a really great weekly rate including breakfast I think. Only offer that rate with a 2-3 month commitment. Really worth checking out. Google them and see what you find.

You'll spend soooo much time and money between Dallas and Denton if you are going to be driving between them. Find something closer to where you need to be.
