I am relocating however I have narrowed my search down to a few communities ( Mira Lagos) but afraid of another flood by Joe pool such as the 2004 flood, Plano, Keller and Rockwall are my other choices. I am also looking for a area that has great schools for my young children. I am not sure which home builder to choose. I love Grand homes, Meritage, David Weekley and Drees. However I have read mixed reviews by others regarding the use of cheap materials by Grand homes, Unsatisfied customers service from Meritage along with construction issues. If there are anyone out there who can give me sound advice please help. I also welcome advice from residents of Mira Lagos as well as the other area I mentioned.

Your choices seem to be all over the DFW area. You need to let us know were will you be working since DFW is a huge area. You don't want to live in Grand Prairie and commute to Frisco. The commute would be a total killer. I am not aware of any flood in 2004 along the banks of Joe Pool. You have picked some great places to look at but without knowing budget, job location and your wants and needs for a neighborhood its pretty hard to give you some solid advice.

Yes it is all over DFW however, my main concern is not the commute its finding a reputable builder in anyone of these areas. I also would like comments from residents living in these areas as well so I can narrow my choices. I hope I made myself a little clearer. I received pictures from a post of Joe pool flooding in 2004, these pics are also on google.

Trust me. Re-think the commute thing unless you will be working from home and are confident that will last.

Of all the builders you mentioned, I would put Drees at the top, then David Weekley and Meritage on the same level. Look at their specs, not the models, because they don't have all the "fluff" from the decorating to deter you from paying attention to the details. Look at the workmanship and you will see the difference.
