A lady from Bangkok told me that many Asians left Richardson ISD for Plano ISD. Plano East has 13.8% Asian population, Plano Sr has 17.6% and Plano West has 18.2%.

There are still plenty of Asians at Berkner though. They have 19.7%, I heard because of the extensive music program there.

The further north of Dallas you go the whiter it gets, but that is true in most major cities even the "black mecca" Atlanta. As an african american I understand what you want in your community, but Dallas is more self segregated. People just like to live in area where they are comfortable, have cultural similarities with there neighbors and good quality of living.
Frisco, Allen, Grapevine Coppell and Mckinney are all majority white, but I know alot of African Americans that live in these cities and love it. Low crime, good quality of life, and good schools.
Cedar Hill, Desoto, South Arlington, South Grand Prairie and Mansfield (far south suburbs) have a significant african american population. I know caucasian americans who live in these cities and love it. Low crime, good quality of life, BUT some of your school district are very questionable. But as you know with minorities you will have some low income and educated pockets. That sound terrible, but it is the truth.
I hope this help with your search. Don't limit your decision based on where your work. Your commute is important, but don't trade good community for a short cummute. Also check out some areas of Dallas proper.
This was really helpful and I'll definitely keep all these things in mind. Yes, we're just looking for a good mix, but schools and safety are of course the most important. Thanks again. It's great to see there's a good consistency with the areas.

There are a few other ways to look up the numbers when it comes to diversity of schools. One good website is Public Schools - School Directory and you can look at individual schools and the numbers. Another good site to use for ACTUAL numbers is the TEA site on their TAKS ratings. Now I've said it MANY times before and I will now and that is I am NOT a big fan of the TAKS tests and how it is used by breaking down the subgroups BUT this will give you an idea of how diverse the school is. It will also show you another crucial factor that is the one I don't care for but because they do break down the student subgroups you can see how each fared on the TAKS. For instance you will find some where all of the caucasion and asian kids may have aced the tests or had a higher percentage of kids that met the min. but a large portion of another group did poorly. If you are wanting your child to be in a school w/ other kids of the same race that they and their parents place education highly your going to want to avoid those schools.

Search by "region" and most of the metroplex is in Region 10

Now, as for that Dr Pepper - LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always have and it was hard for two weeks being in a place that does not have it that much. But I did get my fair share of sweet tea That is something that you will not find that much of here in Dallas. Very few restaurants offer sweet tea

Great, thanks a bunch. My first experience with Sweet Tea was when I spent a summer in Atlanta, GA and I loved it, but I haven't had any since 2002 so I guess I'm okay without having a lot of that, but I do love my Dr. Pepper so glad it'll be there! :-) Thanks again for the school information, it is much appreciated.

Mom some of that data on public schools report appears to be almost 3 years old to me...some of the schools have changed quite a bit since then as about 250-300 Hispanics move to our area every day.
