I've also heard that Anderson's Furniture in Carrollton off the George Bush Tollway has quality items. I've not been there as I am pretty practical with a small child but I've had friends recently check it out.

Bassett has good quality stuff, they are a little pricey, but it does last. I would avoid places like Rooms to Go and Ashley, their stuff is very poorly made. Eurway is hit or miss, some of their stuff is great, and other stuff is total garbage.

Design Within reach in uptown has some really cool stuff, but be warned they are quite expensive.

There's a whole slew of furniture stores over near Galleria mall.

You need to be patient.

Weirs in West Plano is nice. Lorimar and Preston.

Also, there are alot of furniture stores off Alpha and the Tollway.

Weirs is my all time favorite. Nice quality furniture and good people. FYI, they are closed on Sunday's. They have two locations w/ one in Plano on Preston and the other original location in Dallas off 75-Central at Knox-Henderson. Go to that one and check out all of the stores around it - Zee Gallery and Restoration Hardware are awesome. Have lunch or dinner at Chuy's while your there and hop into Kellum for appliances.

Bakers is another good store - some have gone to nothing but Thomasville though.

Robb and Stuckey - eh. If you want over the top gaudy that is the place to find it. They can sometimes have a few good pieces but not for the most part.

Avoid - Roomstore, Rooms to Go and such. If you want the matchy-match stuff then fine but it is not the best. Ashley can be hit or miss.

Anderson's is good as is Hemispheres. Hemispheres is owned by the same company that owns Hobby Lobby (Mardel's) so they are closed on Sunday's. Look for their sales - 40-50% off. You can find some GREAT lamps, pictures, rugs, candleholders, picture frames, furniture, etc at great prices. The Hemisphere's I go to is in Plano on 15th by 75.

FYI, if you use the search feature at the top of the main Dallas page and put in furniture I do believe we had a thread on where to find furniture awhile back.

There are two other locations for Anderson's, Spring Creek east of 75 in Plano, and Preston Rd north of 121 in Frisco.

GoPadge... I just put two and two together... Andersons is the same place in Frisco that my mom bought furniture from a while back. I didn't realize that they had two other stores. I'm more tempted to go to the one in Carrollton now.

I also like Weirs. I don't know if you would call them "high end," but we have definitely purchased what I consider some quality furniture at Weirs. We always go to Weirs first.
