looking to purchase a ladies road bike pref. with flat handles. Just wondered if anyone has a nice one that they can recommend?

Have seen one I like on line but it says 700cc wheels & I don't know what that means!

700C wheels just mean that "is" a road bike.

Road bikes and hybrids have 700c wheels.

Mountain bike wheels are generally 26" (although you will sometimes see 29", or less commonly 650b).

Now that you have the wheel sized figured out, make sure you get her the correct size frame, especially if she is petite. I see too many women start out on bicycles that are wayyyyy too big.

I don't either quite frankly, but a recommendation if I may. Recently my wife and I discovered the Recumbent bike. This is very comfortable to ride. Easy on your back ect. We have been riding them only 2 weeks and Our average miles a day is about 30 miles a day. We do take frequent breaks while we ride. It does take us a while to do the 30 miles but we are just plain enjoying ourselves and the ride.

I don't know what biking activities you are interested in, each bike is designed to your interests, mountain bikes are good for off road, road bikes and styles in between. Recumbent bikes are designed for speed, comfort and distance.

I'm on a recumbent and have decided that I wouldn't purchase another upright bike.
