Just got a hand me down digital camera. The card in it says 512mb. I figured it would hold quite a few pictures. However i can take about 5 pictures and then it says card is full. I have deleted all the pictures on it and again it says full after only a few pics. Wondering if this is normal or if there is a work around or perhaps the card is damaged, or mayb im not deleting the pictures correctly?

Unfortunately i can not give you the model of my camera as i am at work and have no idea

It's probably a bad card. They are cheap enough to replace, and you'll probably cheaply find one with more capacity too.

It might have other files that the camera doesn't recognize. Try putting it in a computer and browsing the files.

You could try formatting it too.

But SD cards are cheap these days. Is it SD?

Whatever size it is, check eBay and Amazon. I think I paid $15 for a 2 gig card a year ago.

512 is a small card....but the capacity depends on the size of the pictures. I just bought a 4GB card for $10 with shipping on Amazon. You will have to check your user's manual (you can get it online if it wasn't handed down with the actual camera) to see if there are any restrictions on the capacity that the camera will handle.

It might be possible that the camera is taking pictures on the highest quality setting.

If not, memory cards are pretty cheap these days.
