I currently have HD DVR with Comcast and can get an additional HD DVR for $15 per month. My parents also have comcast at their house but they just have a basic box something like 60 channels and no HD. I'm wondering if I took an HD DVR and plugged it in at their house would the HD work? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Nope, doesn't work like that. A box is tied to your specific Comcast account, at your specific address. You also can't get HD if you don't subscribe to it.

Word. Comcast central now logs the ID of each box and ties it to a particular account. I suppose you could technically give the box to your parents, but you would need to call Comcast to activate it and they would then remove it from your account and bill your parents for it. Only subscribed services would work, so if they don't pay for HD, they won't get HD no matter which receiver you plug in.
