From my understanding these are wonderful neighborhoods with very nice homes, however I am curious to know if there is any south asian/indian community? Any suggestions or personal experiences? ....will our family stick out like a sore thumb?

Greenwich has the largest percentage of Asians of the 3. Darien and New Canaan are more homogeneous than Greenwich, but i don't feel that you'll face any bias in those towns.

welcome2nyc, I know what you meant and I understand your concern. For the same concern, we are considering Westchester even with much higher tax. Stamford would be much more diversified but the school is an issue. i am curious of how you decide.

Ive lived in Darien for 25 years and there are many Asians and Indians. If you are looking for social or cultural groups then I dont believe there are any. However, YOU WILL NOT STICK OUT in any way.

This may be a little dated but as an Asian family, I think all of the towns are very friendly and in no way will you or your kids "stick" out. We've really enjoyed it here. We've made a ton of friends and the kids love it here as well. Obviously you will still be a minority but I find that everybody in CT is very well traveled, educated and pretty friendly. There are plenty of asian and south asian restaurants, but the only problem you may have is lack of asian grocery stores. There is a japanese grocery in Greenwich, a pakastani grocery in Norwalk and an asian grocery store in Norwalk/Wilton.
