Wow it feels like May. Wow! Thank God its just 2 days. Too soon!

Zoomed into the coasts... Looks like North of I-95 warmed up easily while closer to the water still in the 60s and even 50s in some spots like Milford, Fairfield, New Haven, Madison.

Check out south shore of Long Island though.

Even most of FFC and adjacent Westchester they are talking snow/sleet for part of it (tomorrow night into Friday morning). Last year had a 70 degree reading in February and March was cold and snowy, think of Mark Twain and what he said about our weather. Monticello, NY in the Catskills is 71 right now and has a Winter Weather Advisory.

So far 77 in NYC and 79 in Newark both all time records for February. Even Danbury and Poughkeepsie are 77 and 76 respectively (as someone noted, sometimes in March and April during warm spells they can be a lot warmer than NYC area, but usually not in February do the match it on warm spells). The Sound is keeping BDR at 62 so far, which breaks their high for the date (59 in 2002, ironically it would not if it were tomorrow as record high that day is 64 in 1991). Not close to all time Feb. high which is 67 set on both 2/27/1997 and 2/28/1976.

Since 1999 in Danbury there was never a February that hit 70° until last year. Today's max temp......77°. !!

Windsor Locks Max today: 74°. Never had a February that warm since 1905! Feb 1985 hit 73°.

All makes sense since the upper level Heights was the highest on record. SouthEast Ridge be pumping!

Bridgeport Max 63° today. Nothing crazy. It hit 67° Feb 1976 & 1997

Grocery store had A/C cranking. I had it on in the car. Did not feel like February and just reminds me how insane people are to live in Florida.

When the sun went down I have to admit, it did feel nice to walk out in short sleeves. But not for more than a couple days.

They're not insane at all. We have our thick New England winter blood. Blood thins when it's hot all the time and enduring a 40 degree day like we're due tomorrow would seem like torture.

What would make that happen? This time I am honestly asking as a curiosity and not as a debate on "you know what", etc. because despite a lot of weather knowledge, I'm not too up on that subject and I know you are. I'm wondering if that kind of thing is an unprecedented natural anomoly for example again since I know nothing about it and given that we had some pretty historic cold spells not too long ago and they seemed to have lowered temps for next week now as well I see what it going on right now as more in the way of a lot of extremes both ways than simply warming.....
